Our work·Change at scale

A thousand coaches, trained for the conditions NHS staff were actually working in.

At the onset of COVID-19 it was clear that frontline staff would need free wellbeing support, and that the coaches and therapists offering it would need to be ready for conditions none of them had trained for. We co-developed the training approach, then delivered it.

Situation

Our experience inside psychological services and the NHS made one thing obvious early in the pandemic: people on the frontline would need access to free wellbeing support to cope with the demands being placed on them.

Volunteers from every corner of the coaching profession were willing. What they needed was a shared, consistent approach to supporting NHS staff in extreme conditions.

Intervention

We helped co-design a training approach for volunteers from all areas of the coaching discipline, to ensure consistency, quality and effective support for the NHS staff who needed it at that moment.

Result

Over 1,000 coaches have been trained to date.

The approach was accredited by the Association for Coaching.
